    Attractions
Many visitors to Grenada describe it as the most beautiful small island in the West Indies. Mountains draped with lush forest and carved by waterfalls fill the island's center, while picture-perfect beaches fringe the coast. Less developed than other Caribbean islands, Grenada is "the original Caribbean". Unspoiled and relatively undiscovered (perhaps due to its extreme southerly location as well as the environmental values of the government), Grenada is home to some of the warmest, friendliest, and most charming people imaginable. Most really do love visitors.

Most people find plenty to do in our area and are happy to avoid the cars and crowds in the south.

Step down from our breezy terrace, to our sunny gardens, and down onto Bathway Beach, a huge protected pool formed by a natural breakwater. The water varies from dead calm to a spa, with jets turned on high, is unusually safe and often deserted.....

Levera Hill, Levera Pond (part of the National Park) and Levera Beach are within walking distance (or short drive) from Tradewinds.....
    Other nearby attractions:

  • swimming
  • snorkeling
  • a National Park, with visitor center and ecology displays
  • a fresh water lagoon with pier, rich bird life
  • an extinct volcano
  • mangrove swamps
  • the ruin of an eighteenth-century English fort
  • farmers' market
  • magnificent waterfalls
  • glorious hiking areas
  • the oldest water-powered rum distillery in the Caribbean
  • a small crater lake
  • hot springs to bathe in
  • endless empty beaches
  • an solar-powered organic chocolate factory
  • plantation Great Houses open for dining

  • Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some questions you may have.... IF yours isn't answered here contact us!

"Can I bring my favorite dog, Fido?"
    Sorry! No pets are allowed.

    "Are children welcome?"
Yes! If they love to play in the water and can live without TV, they'll love it. Many of the local attractions are appropriate for kids, too. Even the rum distillery is fascinating. Remember that we do not offer TV, VCR or computer games.

    "Is there a swimming pool?"
Mother Nature has built the best "swimming pool" we know of on Bathway Beach. It's an ocean reef though NOT a chlorinated pool.

"What do we do in the evening?"
Read, listen to music, enjoy the sound of the wind in the trees, take a flashlight down to the beach and discover Atlantic needlenose blue fish or race the sand crabs, bring games you can play, meet the neighbors, catch up on your sleep, have a another rum punch, or dream.

"I hate to cook! Will I be able to dine out every night?"
We do offer maid/cooking services. Or you can rent a car and drive an hour each way over Grenada's winding roads to eat out in the city. But that's not our idea of a vacation!

"How much does local food cost?"
Local produce, fish and chicken are a bit less expensive than most U.S. urban markets. Imported brands (Kellogg's, Hellmann's etc.) are available and cost two to three times their U.S. price. You can bring in your favorite condiments and goodies. Some guests even bring prime cut beef in a freezer carry bag. If you eat locally, you will be fine. If you want to duplicate your routine meals, you will pay more. A great barbeque chicken dinner is available everyday at Sylvia's beach cafe right at Bathway for less than $4. The Great Houses in the area serve magnificent luncheons for about $15.

    "Why is it so inexpensive?"
Many renters want a pool, A/C, TV/VCR and all the luxuries of home. Tradewinds is wonderfully simple and comfortable. We are also more than an hour's drive from the airport. There is no nightlife or fine dining, and getting to attractions requires guests to drive or pay for a driver. Those who have an adventurous spirit and can live outside a gated resort will love it! Tradewinds is the REAL Grenada.

    ENJOY your visit!
